Colon stuff can be removed with very little problems (and not necessarily a bag) if caught early enough.
Both me nanas had it, both died of something else years later. I've got a lot of cameras up the arsehole to look forward to though

Fair play to you for announcing it on here, I have just been deciding if I would do the same and I think I would.

Hope all goes well for you.

You should get a CT fairly soon for what's called staging, if you've got a Duke's stage A or B you'll be fine.

And there I was, laid on the couch, laughing at daft post's on message boards then opened yours. Made me sit up and think how lucky I am as I have never had to deal with anything close to that type of news.

Just did a quick google and found this forum.

http://ehealthforum.com/health/topic59232.html#axzz2Czz4A87O

They will be lots of such forums with people who can share thoughts and experiences which will help and I am sure will put your mind at ease with answers to the many questions you may have.

Best of luck mate and stay positive.

First full day after receiving the result.
Very hard informing family friends and colleagues, harder for them than me I felt.
Was a bit useless at work as everything was still sinking in but I think I have come to terms with it now and for all intents and purposes life goes on as normal until scans late next week and subsequent results.
Shit like this really does bring out the best in people, offers of support and help have been truly touching.

Thanks for the kindness expressed on this thread and Curly Girlie, I will call in those Curly cuddles

Diagnosed today

recently been the victim of a serious diagnosis myself, which by all means i'm lucky to be alive from and will undoubtedly cause me problems in later life, but when I hear that C word it makes me grateful still, as I couldn't think of anything worse.........lost a few to it, it's horrible, few year back my 17 year old cousin was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins, broke my heart to see him in that way (I was round his on the Sunday, he was complaining of feeling unwell and I called him a fanny thinking it was a hang over or he had a sniffly nose..........literally 3 days later he was told he had it........cried my fucking heart out for him)

But he beat it, and you will beat it, you sound positive enough to know it can't get you down, musn't allow that even though it's very easy for me to say it, as I don't have it, but you sound like you're ready for the battle.........Boro 86 Spirit mate, that's all you need, eh

In fact a friend of the wife's cousin has just been diagnosed with colon too, I believe - had his appendix removed a few month ago as they thought it was that, then took bad last week and it turns out it was a tumour all this time - hopefully caught in good time though, I think he also has had his bowel removed (so it might be bowel and not colon like yours)

Very best of fucking luck to you, and as new as I am to this board i'm sure when I say  you have the backing of the board behind you, nobody would disagree..... jc

Another day gone and what a learning process it is.
The focus is not on the problem but the reaction of other people to it. One or two have been awfully upset by it and I end up trying to comfort them rather than the other way round, people need to know it's early days yet and we are up for the fight. It still might be easily treatable once the scan results are known. The C word really triggers off varying emotions in people but I guess most of us have experienced family or friends who have been there.
still difficult concentrating at work today but improving as time goes on.

Boro result yesterday gave me the usual reaction to a defeat which indicates to me that normal everyday things still maintain their importance.

Love you all and thanks for your support
