where a stag party of around 10 could stay thats fairly cheap and fairly close to the centre?

We're looking at sometime in May!  Were all on the wrong side of middle aged and not trouble causers!

I don't think many hotels are keen on stag do's for obvious reasons. I would just try the usual chain hotels like Ibis etc. Edinburgh isn't often cheap.

Cheapest will likely be dreghorn travelodge and you can get the bus to and from the city centre (public transport is the best in the uk) have a look on booking.com there are a few hostels and stuff but you may need to split your party in two as they aren’t very big.
