"Connor O'Neill, football writer for the Liverpool Echo, said Liverpool fans 'are well known' for booing God Save The Queen at Wembley and claimed that the reasons date from the city's antipathy towards Margaret Thatcher's Tory government in the 1980s"No it wasn't. We all know the real reason why. But what else would you expect some bullshitting journo of irish/catholic descent to say?

They do attract common traits of unbridled shithousery, lack of tact and victim-hood
Hopefully a national day of celebration for Hillsborough will let them know their place

Good on 'em...sometimes it seems like the working class in Liverpool & Manchester know the score whereas too many in the North East are cap doffing imbeciles. A few of the latter type populate this dying board

Self appointed middle class metrosexual and spokesperson for the working class peoples of Manchester and Liverpool. Manchester has fork hall to do with scouse scum and a similar argument can be made for Lfc as most of their “fans” are from nowhere near Merseyside. They should relocate to Islamabad.
Still Tarquin has time to offend the peoples of the north east who he is either too lazy or daft to differentiate.
Now fuck off back to North Korea 🇰🇵 over the road you blinkered bellend.

It really is, old chap. The Cherry blossom on Upper St is quite a thing to behold. I can just see the property George Orwell lived at Canonbury Square from my table at the Bistro. Arf, arf...

Ah, George Orwell. Wonder what he would have made of Sir Sneer Korma and The Ginger Growler.

Ah, George Orwell. Wonder what he would have made Sir Sneer Korma and The Ginger Growler.
As a committed democratic-socialist I'm sure he'd approve...while also seeing straight through the current corrupt criminals in power. He saw through everything "Every line of serious work that I have written since 1936 has been written, directly or indirectly, against totalitarianism and for democratic socialism, as I understand it"

Errr... great points guys. Orwell would be quaking in his boots at the intellectual might of a few RWNJ's stuck on a dead board 'cos they were too daft to avoid a ban OTR

Orwell was physically robust enough to fight (voluntarily) in the Spanish Civil War against the Fascists, recover from being shot in the throat and escape over the Pyrenees on foot. Takes a lot of guts that. How many RWNJs in UK would volunteer to fight against Putin's army in Ukraine? And illness in later life didn't prevent him from being a literary genius, makes it all the more impressive

Also he’s an authoritarian so square that one with Orwell Henry, all I’ve read is you’ve figured out Boris is a libertarian As I said, Orwell was a DEMOCRATIC SOCIALIST to the end. He would probably approve of Labour and detest the Tory party more than he did in the 30s & 40s. All hypothetical since he's been dead since 1950 so there is no correct answer it's all just opinions

You’re barking up the wrong tree
I think you’ve spent too long OTR
It’s not even about political parties but the electorate and if you were as clever as your apparent intellectual superiority suggests you’d be able to work out why that matters
Oh and then be able to understand Labour cannot win a general election so they’re going to have to do a deal with the SNP or Lib Dem’s

I worked for P&O Cruises in the 00's, before they turned into Butlins at Sea, and had to do my turn on Church Service in the main theatre. I got confronted by an angry punter who had a go at me for not standing for the National Anthem at the end. I replied "I don't have to, I don't believe in God and I didn't vote for the Queen." Got a bit of a telling off for that one!

Once the Union has been irrevocably destroyed by Brexit, hope we can have a new Anthem for English cup finals that everyone can get behind. Something stirring and emotive, like "Anarchy in the UK"

its all still on lads - the quad that is - I agree the booing of the anthem is a shit show and its needs shutting down that shit. Other than that I'm a watching redmen supporter still - good to see the young 'redmen' second-string get a result last night to take the premier league title to the last day. can Stevie's Villa pull out some last-day magic allowing the redmen to hopefully bag trophy number 3 with the right result on Sunday... Before they head to Paris for what might be called the clash of ' European Royalty ' I will leave you with the words to this song... you might hear it in the next week or two !! We've conquered all of Europe We're never going to stop From Paris down to Turkey We've won the fucking lot Bob Paisley and Bill Shankly The fields of Anfield Road We are loyal supporters And we come from Liverpool Allez Allez Allez Allez ...
