How do you think Gibbo would play it?

What approach to a season in the prem would you like to see?

I would like the club to be smart and keep the core of the promoted team together, they deserve their chance. Not spend too much but invest in key areas to give us a chance of staying up. Most of all, not give stupid contracts to has beens that have no interest in the shirt but only the money.

If we get promoted i agree with most of your post with 1 addition and that is keeping Colin as manager.

If he stays the days of mercenaries coming here will be over thank fuck.  :like:

Id keep most of the back 4 / back 5 together. Keep the honest grafters in centre midfield.

Spend whatever money we have on the best we can afford in the final third. Preferably with prem experience. And a quality keeper.

Newcastle made some good signings in the summer, raiding the relegated sides - Wilson and Fraser from Bournemouth, the left back from Norwich.

The problem this season is, none of the teams in the relegation battle have many players youd actually want - theres probably still better signings available in the championship, depending on who gets promoted

We would need 6 or 7 quality signings to give us any chance of stopping up - that aint going to be cheap

How would he play it ?

By keeping most the money it brings him.

He's a minnow in a big pond up there and he knows it .

Bit harsh, couple there that I think would cut it in the prem. McNair at CB and Dicksteel the way he is playing and improving all the time.

Learn from last time, don't fuck the squad up.

Keep the spine of the team and just add reasonably priced individual quality.
If you come back down so be it. But you're much better prepared to bounce straight back.

We would get a shed load of money. The squad would remain the same and get relegated.

probably

spend a couple of years bouncing up and down, build the funds up, then with a bit of luck we can gain a foot hold in the prem and build from there

to be honest, i'm not that arsed, the prem is over rated, over hyped and over priced

The gap has been talked about for years. An also ran like Palace would destroy us. Gibson would be sitting in a big poker game with fifty quids worth of chips

Agree with most of that, I don't think Gibbo putting all his eggs in one basket will help in the long term, especially if we are stuck with overrated shite in the chumps paying top whack wages.

Disagree about the prem it's the best league in the world and the only place to be. Be nice to get back there and see the stadium near full for most games again. Even Red might buy a season ticket

It was clear last time we were promoted that karanka was making a massive blunder bringing in loads, mostly Spanish speaking, mercenaries and that any increase in individual quality would be Countered by lack of commitment and loss of team spirit. Then karanka wondered  why no other cunt would come And play for him. People who say we owed him another shot at the prem Forget that karanka didnt extend that same courtesy to the players that got us there.

Anyway, agree with consensus that we wouldnt spend much and would get relegated. Not bothered, football is football at the end of the day

Generally best option to win games is having someone advanced midfield who can pass a fucking ball and create the chances .
Fuck buying anyone else , blow everything you can tying to get xavi or pirlo to put the boots back on  charles

Or maybe try and sell Cleveland and put an offer in for de brune   :alastair:

Ramirez was an arsehole, but Id have doubled his wage and sucked him off every Saturday

If we got promoted and Warnock stayed in then we will do the sensible thing and build on our defensive quality. All we need is quality flair players in the attacking third.

If Gibson sorts himself out and gets Warnock two top notch attackers in January we are nailed on to go up.

Can't wait to get back to the Riverside next year for a promotion party!
