Please spare a thought for the MN vets as their contribution to the war effort in both world wars is sometimes lost due to the focus on the armed forces.
Atlantic Convoys, Arctic Convoys and much more.

30,248 merchant seamen lost their lives during World War Two, a death rate that was higher proportionately than in any of the armed forces

My uncle was killed during WW2 on a merchant ship' 18 years old' his mate who lived in the same road was also lost.U boat sank them.
