Standard practice these days unfortunately. They have to do it to satisfy money laundering regulations.

If you havenít had one from a bookie you probably donít bet that much. It varies between them how much  risk they will accept and many will be driven based on what they can pre-verify. Having done some work on KYC with some bookies, they will compare  your credit file with mobile contracts and even look at your house on google street view to make sure your income and lifestyle match your expenditure, but even in light of all that any serious wins or losses will push you over the trigger limits for documentation. If you only bet the odd tenner here and there youíre unlikely to need it, but if you do serious stakes you absolutely will have- bet365 100% do and itís first invasive what they ask for.

As usual, signing up is free, but you have to verify your new account for you to access and withdraw your earnings after a win. And this is something that has set it positively apart from other numerous existing betting sites as far as users' security goes.

Sky bet link http://support.skybet.com/s/article/How-to-Verify-your-account

Verifying your age and identity is a requirement of our licensing conditions under the UK Gambling Commission.

Upon your first transaction we run an automatic check to verify your age and address.

On occasion, this check may fail or return no results, for example you may have registered your Sky Bet account to your new address but your bankcard is still registered to you home address.

Bet365, as with most bookies, operate a risk based approach, If they can E-ID you and are satisfied with what comes in the report you can withdraw without providing documentation, but you will still be subjected to triggers where they will do a first stage check and second stage checks.

First stage check will be a gambling questionnaire which is done online and they will follow up with a call and ask you things like your income, if you feel compelled to gamble and the like. They'll compare this with the stuff they already know but sound like they don't, as its all in your credit file.

If they're satisfied with Stage 1, they will re-enable your account but if you hit the triggers for a second time they will want documentation - this is usually 3 months statements showing deposits and withdrawals and how much money you have coming in vs coming out - you need to be able to prove an income level to be putting the stakes on that you are basically, which is done via payslips or showing bank accounts with sufficient funding/savings accounts etc.

There are a variety of triggers and you can hit several at once or might just get unlucky and hit one - they include things like :

Loss of £2500 or more in consecutive months
Turnover on sportsbook of £10k+ in 24hr period
Losses over £10k in 30 day period
Loss over £2k in 24hr period
Deposit over £10k in 30 day period
Casino accounts that reach cumulative spend of £2k, £10k, £25k, £50k etc

and so on.

So in summary its not correct that absolutely every bet365 account will need to be verified, but they absolutely do ask people for these checks - it depends what comes back on their automated checks - but every bookie will have a process for doing automated checks, as well as a manual verification process which could be as simple as seeing your passport / bank card the first time round, with more detailed checks if you bet big - this is required as part of money laundering checks as well as the responsible gambling requirements.

Sky Bet had some sort of computer error for about ten minutes last week when they had Lomachenko to beat Crolla at ridiculously stupid Odds of 1/3.

They then suspended betting & the Odds reappeared later in the day at 1/500.
