Wilbraham and Withington are the other end (east) from the student halls (west) if you went south you're in Withington (proper posh), north you wer in Rusholme - curry central and tame. Which bit of Fallowfield was rough in the 80's because when I was there from 1986 to 1989 it was the most expensive place to rent a house and was considered the best place to be for students. That's why I ended up in Moss Side.

Which of the two Western pubs did your brother run (Great Western or the Big Western) he might well have been there when I was. Big was the Irish type place and Great was the massive big detached red brick one that was terrifying.

Hulme had plenty of violence going on in the late 80's but it also had the excellent PSV club, many a happy night completed wankered in there - Yeah Mon!

Apologies to Lids for thread hijack but reminiscing about Manchester in the 80's is better than talking about small time hoods on Teesside.

Hey Tezza - when you were at St Tiggywinkle's Prep School did you live in the rough part of York?

Is that why you won Matron's Brave Little Sausage award four years in a row?

 :pd:

I bet you could tell some tales.

It's the Walley hotel me brother ran, not one of the Westerns. Do apologise. They're all the same to me  jc
Wilbraham rd ran straight through Fallowfield from Wimslow to Princess. The estates around Lloyd street is where I'm on about, not these tourist traps you went to mcl

What were you doing in Manchester anyway?
