Anyone working at BSC on the furnaces or the hot mills grafted,it was more the  admin/mtce that had a easy life.
I started there as a school leaver, worked with old guys who had been in the war,two of them torpedoed whilst in the navy, some been under shell fire and were half deaf because of it.Easy to fucking snipe on here about a hard dirty industry most wouldn't want to do. klins

I think you might be talking about one of my relatives there Coulby!

Rids was a union trouble causer who spent his life in the offices shirking work. Its why he never got promoted.

I spent 31years there 27 years on the by products gas cleaning plant as a lowly operator, panel operator, chargehand and team leader. Moved onto the battery when the works were mothballed the first time as works shift manager. Ended up back at coke ovens with ssi as shift manager until leaving in 2014.
Loved it. Hard graft, dangerous, challenging and fucking filthy at times. The majority of lads were fucking spot on and many have become life long friends.

Not giving a rat's arse what anyone says. Good money was earned and deserved.

Good fucking cv that for a brush hand
