...and there are a few on here who post and browse...

Goldby Senior, Eric, passed away this morning.

I'm not looking for sympathy here - I just wanted to let those who met him, especially Bob End, Curly and Harry Callaghan, that he's gone to the Holgate in the sky.

He did the last ever interview with former Boro striker Johnny Spuhler and I will get it tidied up as soon as I have come to terms with this. It's a cracking read and here it is.

http://comeonboro.com/archive/000001.php

He was Boro through and though all his life - it was his main conversation topic - and the very reason why this place exists. He delighted me with stories of Clough, Hardwick, Mannion and more when I was a kid and took me to the Boro for the first time in 1973. So began many years of joy, misery, triumph, disaster and would we have it any other way?

But we shall overcome and Dad's in a better place now, with his heroes.

Stay strong fella  :like:

That saying  "a picture is worth a thousand words" He looked like he was one of the happy blokes in life always ready to give some one a smile or help out when you needed it,Some one who will be missed by many .Reminds me of my old fella, And the old Boro stories about cloughie . People look at loss in many different ways, I think loved ones are always watching over, It's not goodbye forever as far as I am concerned.

He's asked for me and my sister to scatter his ashes in the Riverside. I'm on with asking for permission. If they say no, we'll do it by the old Holgate Wall.

I'll be in Boro soon lads. I'm up for a meet up (piss up), but no roundhouses, eh. I've heard the Green Tree is a good place for meet ups... :tp2:

I'd like to raise a few glasses to Rodders at this meet up and I'd like to see some old grudges buried for good too.

Time for us all to move into a new dimension now.

They won't let us scatter his ashes in the stadium so Holgate Wall it is. It will be on Wednesday 28th February and I'll be sticking around all day, visiting all his old haunts and having some drinks, so let's have a meet up maybe mid afternoon onwards.

Who's interested and around on the day?

Starting in The Linthorpe then heading into the Village could be a plan...
