Some of their fans seem to think we owe them a huge debt do you agree

Do you think Gibbo should stump up the cash to keep them afloat

I wasn't born but was obviously in attendance that day.

Surely another club would have put us up and the town must have made a fortune that day, given that 250,000 fans attended

There is a movement to organise 2,000 tickets for their home game on (I think) 20th January, to come to Boro ticket office so that those who want to can stump up and go see them.

I think it's a really nice gesture for Boro boys and girls to get involved with  :bc:

What attracts you to that?

The canapťs and the flamboyancy?  Or the violent anal murder?

Either way still better than Hartlepool.

Hartlepool are looking for a new owner to invest money in them & devlelop land near the ground a few grand from Boro won't do any good.

I would like Hartlepool to survive but their troubles are beyond the bucket passing solution.

They need a very serious investor.

They're both Co. Durham - or to be more precise, both unitary authorities so not technically in any county.

they used to sell Mackem fanzines in Hartlepool Asda FFS

as mentioned on the other thread and on here - if the people of the town won't turn up and support their local team why should people from surrounding towns bail them out?

as for asking Blunderland for cash.....they've got fuck all anyway, probably send us an IOU when we bill em for what their scummy fans did to the bogs at the weekend

I donít want to see any club go to the wall, itís a shit position to be in. Iíll be attending as many of their home games as a I can this season and will probably donate a few quid when Iím pissed. Boro have/had links with other clubs but thereís one just down the road he could buy and use as a feeder/academy. They could even train at hurworth where the coaches can see them regularly.

The bigger picture here is the slow demise of football in the northeast.

Darlington, say no more.
Hartlepool on the brink.
Sunderland seem nailed on for league 1
Newcastle struggling
Boro a debatable yo yo club at this point.

A proud history of top level football for the area is disappearing.

Way too much emphasis and too much money swilling around the Premier league and Champions league.  Football is fucked.

id rather lay the blame with local authorities and schools. Grass roots football (youth and senior) needs investment and structure adding. The fa are to blame for the state of the professional leagues, they could easily dictate more than they do for the good of the game.

Itís certainly not helped. They still run grass roots as it was 30 years ago. Other sports at have come on leaps and bounds to the point  ore young lads clearly opt for something better organised and better facilitated than standing on a neglected council pitch.

From what I can see the interest in football is in fast decline for the younger generations and I canít say I blame them.

It's sad to see a club lose its status and history whether it's local or not but at the end of the day football is a business now not a sport and businesses especially this day in age and especially this area struggle fail and fade most of this is due to lack of support or demand  or in some cases badly run all this help save it bollocks is out of the fans control if it's saved it will be down to a investor who wants to continue their legacy not fans from different clubs chipping in a couple of quid I do wish them look

But personally I couldn't give a fuck I've never looked out for their results I've no interest and will not be donating either

Problem is for these clubs is once itís gone itís hard to rebuild and the impact to the sport for the entire northeast will be hard to ever recover from. At this rate of decline the entire north east might have two clubs in the championship in 5 years time. The premier league will become a south east only club.

football is losing it's soul week by week, Got more regard for people who follow smaller clubs for the love of their team  than the floating fans who come and go at the riverside.I hate the way football is ran these days. :wanker:
