Author Topic: Any recommendations for a nice river with a picnic area?  (Read 311 times)

Thinking about somewhere like Hob Hole but we always go there. Any other options?

Somewhere safe to go in the water, get a BBQ on the go and sink a couple of cold ones.

Near the stepping stones at Lealholm is nice.

Dunno if you can do BBQs though.

Rosedale - there's a café in the village that sells superb cakes, flap-jacks etc

Yes thats the one but i get hob hole and sheepwash confused. May even be same place!! Currently in richmond. Shops first then river then castle for a picnic.

Hob hole is near Castleton - when you pass through Kildale from Ingelby Greenhow take the right turn to Westerdale and it's at the bottom of the bank on the right hand side. Beautiful spot and very quiet.

I went there and it was full of chavs with rottweillers bounding about looking for someone to bite

Sheepwash is much better as theres more space and you can pop into Ossie for a few beers after
