What is really going on is the likes of Bannon and Cummings are using Populism as part of a formula that includes Social Media manipulation to persuade the non-rich to vote in the best interests of the super-wealthy

It is financed by Russian Oligarchs and Putin and involves many of the same people moving from campaign to campaign in the US, Brazil, Australia and the UK. Cambridge Analytica has also been heavily involved in Social Media manipulation in many of these countries. They have developed a formula for persuading enough relatively poor people to vote in the best interests of the super-rich via lies and deception and it is working!

Cummings is now recruiting many more data-scientists to shake up the Civil Service and Westminster via increasing use of AI to make critical decisions

Interesting times...

Its clear what needs to be done to reduce fossil fuel consumption and shift to lower impact activities. Banning plastic bags, reducing plastic consumption, more effective recycling and waste disposal, engineer re-cyclability into product lifecycles, incentivize greener forms of production. I can't see anything wrong with any of that
117  ComeOnBoro.com / ComeOnBoro.com Message Board / Re: BBC and the bush fires in Australia on: January 03, 2020, 03:19:04 PM
He has his own learned opinion, many other climatologists, marine biologists, meteorologists and so on have other learned opinions. This is science. The difficulty comes when trying to predict what's going to happen in the future, because, as you rightly point out, models can be flawed.

However, if you look at the body of scientific work being done, on a global level, across various fields of study  it all seems to be pointing in the direction of worrying trends and changes in climates and ecosystems, on a global scale. If you don't accept that, that is your call, but don't be so quick to dismiss alternative views to your own
118  ComeOnBoro.com / ComeOnBoro.com Message Board / Re: BBC and the bush fires in Australia on: January 03, 2020, 03:05:15 PM

I have worked for 35 years on the Great Barrier Reef, and my genuinely held belief is that there are systemic quality assurance problems at GBR science institutions. I had a right, a duty, to say this. JCU have still not accepted this fundamental right despite the importance of the debate to the North Queensland region.

Sorry Willie, you have clearly misunderstood the nature of the dispute. Challenging hypotheses is the very essence of science so i applaud the guy
119  ComeOnBoro.com / ComeOnBoro.com Message Board / Re: BBC and the bush fires in Australia on: January 03, 2020, 02:46:17 PM
He was ostracised and struck off, and so he took them for unfair dismissal. What else should he have done when bullied by the Uni nazis? This was not just anyone he was the academic lead for physics and geophysics in a leading Australian institution. He has effectively acted as a whistleblower (which normally results in being sacked).  He didn't have a hypothesis you daft cunt. He questioned the reliability of the scientific data from which quantitative conclusions were being drawn. He embarrassed the academics and consequently sacked.

So his hypothesis was that scientific data which conclusions were being drawn from was flawed?
120  ComeOnBoro.com / ComeOnBoro.com Message Board / Re: BBC and the bush fires in Australia on: January 03, 2020, 02:27:15 PM
Coldest winter in years in India......climate change?

Oh no sorry this doesn't fit the narrative.

Yes the coldest winter in years means climate change is not happening  :alf:

Give the man a professorship, he has really proven it aint happening

Bob is a disaster
121  ComeOnBoro.com / ComeOnBoro.com Message Board / Re: BBC and the bush fires in Australia on: January 03, 2020, 02:11:00 PM
So he was awarded damages because of clauses in his contract, not because the court ruled that his hypotheses were correct, which they would be in no position to make a judgement on in any case, assuming none of them have a climate science background

Try again Willie

We made an almighty mess in Northern Ireland. Our bad policy, bad behaviour and intransigence inflicted and unleashed misery on a great part of the world. Of all the things levelled at Corbyn the fact he engaged with Adams, McGuiness et al is something I have least problem with. If more politicians were prepared to speak and listen to them then the peace process might have happened a lot earlier and many lives saved. We all ended up talking to them anyway, the queen shook hands with them, Mo Mowlam hugged them and Ian Paisley and McGuinness laughed and giggled and slapped backs together liked best mates.

Northern Ireland is a great example of how bad policy and bad treatment can polarise and radicalise communities. The ones who like to spit insults like "Fenian Cunts" would quite likely have been throwing stones at British soldiers had the been born in Derry or West Belfast

Go on admit it, you wake up ashamed to be British don't you?

We're not perfect, far from it but we never stooped so low as to blow up pubs with innocent men and women in them.
We didn't plan car bombs in Omagh killing pregnant women.

If the terrorist scum had stuck to attacking governmental and military targets your rhetoric might have had some weight but as the vile bastards murdered innocent people who had no say in the politics of Ireland you have no arguement and you're a scum bag for trying to defend them.

Trying to defend them lol. Mate, I stopped replying to you many years ago because you are a boring, repetitive and obtuse crank. Now I know its you I'll be doing the same again x
