Which fairy tales are those? Please expand.

Immigration, the £350m, freedom of movement and trade deals, the EU bending over because they need UK trade, Britain being "great" again, businesses not leaving, jobs with major employers not being lost. Do you need more? There are many things that were promised, or at least used by the leave campaign, and it has to be said that not many (if any) look like coming to fruition, except the less desirable ones.

Like I said though, the vote was cast and Leave won. Remain took their eye off the ball and failed to judge and address the mood of the country. They should live with it. I have always been on the fence, I leaned more towards Leave after the vote when all and sundry commented on how idiotic the British are for exercising a democratic right, I also don't agree with what the EU has become, it is an abuse of the original ideal. It seems all the Leave voters are interested in is reminding people they won, while offering nothing constructive or feasible as a solution.

That wasn't my main point though. My main point is that a lot of Brexit promises are turning out to be pie in the sky, and the main protagonists realised this early and scarpered from the process. I'd be interested to know what the Leave voters think about this. But you can avoid the question again if you like Pile  monkey

Although none of the above influenced me to vote leave, Iíll answer a few.

Immigration - according to the press, foreigners are packing up and going home. Obviously thatís what the nasty racists wanted?

£350m to the NHS - that wasnít a direct promise but hasnít the NHS funding gone up by something like £200m per week and weíre not out yet.

Britain becoming great again - who actually said or believed that? Itís a remainer myth, see also blue passports.

Trade deal - tell me what trade we have with the Eu and Iíll comment on it.

Eu bending over - there is no post brexit yet so how can this be proved either way.

As for your offer, yes please list more. Our country has been viewed as going down the pan for decades, all whilst in the Eu. Our industries are dead, weíre skint and have some of the most deprived areas in the Eu, none of this was caused brexit. What about the Eu army? Denied by remainers but has since been admitted by macron. What about the Eu backing down from Russia since we announced weíd be leaving. Germany is verging on recession and theyíre the jewel economy in the Eu crown. Look whatís happening in France, Italy economy, Spanish economy, Greek economy, Irish economy, itís not the box of chocolates remainers want people to believe.

Right politics is on the in the Eu and we may see more countries leaving as immigration is believed to be crippling their infrastructure.

Personally, I think itís too early for either side to celebrate or claim bragging rights. Big business paint a bleak picture because they want cheap labour and governments say itís bad because they either profit from it or have a bogey man they can blame (tories and labour blaming stuff on the Eu).

Pulis managed him then. Doesnít that merit something?
Not really no. He gave him game time and thatís about it. Traore showed what he was capable of in his first season against some of the best teams in the world, he had an end product against championship defences.  Pulis often played him on his worst side to accommodate the ineffective Downing on the right so letís not pretend he got the best out of him.

And Ryan Shotton looking like a player when under Monk he was terrible is an accident too?
No, I take my hat off to Pulis for getting a tune out of Shotton, he far exceeded my expectations. It looks like Shotton needs a retune now though.

15  ComeOnBoro.com / ComeOnBoro.com Message Board / Re: Given up on this season on: March 17, 2019, 11:46:00 AM
I've been to half a dozen games since January and watched most of them before that whilst in Korea through the streaming subscription.

I'm a pragmatist and always believe the ends will justify the means. For those reasons I've backed Tony Pulis whilst others have been hysterical about him being at our club.

There's times where we've looked as good as anyone in the division, WBA and Leeds at home for example.

Other times such as yesterday we just looked plain awful.

There's things that baffle us fans and probably the manager too. He's an honest bloke and a decent coach if we're being honest. He turned Traorť into a footballer IIRC.

It's probably time for a change but we certainly don't need another rookie manager. Someone with a bit of experience and cash to spend will get this squad promoted next season.
There was always a good player in Traore. Pulis didnít wave a magic wand, before Pulis we had Monk who wanted to play his own signings, agnew who was hopeless and Karanka who mismanaged him.
16  ComeOnBoro.com / ComeOnBoro.com Message Board / Re: Seems to be an awful lot of hysteria on here and FMTTM this weekend on: March 17, 2019, 11:41:51 AM
The big worry is money.

Although we will be losing some big earners (Downing, Besic, VLP, Hugill), the savings probably still wonít offset the loss in parachute payments and nobody wants to stump up for Britt, Gestede or Braithwaite. One saving grace of Leeds getting promoted is they might sign Howson, heís been a hardworking and busy nonentity who no doubt commands big wages.

As for the feeling around the club, apathy rules. I know hundreds of people who only go because theyíre stuck with a season ticket and want to get their moneyís worth. Iíd imagine a high percentage of them wonít renew next and the stadium is already too big for the current crowd. Itís like Gibson has tried to sicken them off with a price rise after the shit people have sat through since promotion to the premier league. The anti-Gibson sentiment is growing and I reckon thereíll be less blind optimism towards the club.

Next season is massive (do yourselves a favour and forget about this one) and itís imperative Gibson can find a manager who can compete on a low budget, sadly most teams want the same. If he gives the job to Woodgate or keeps Pulis on the books, Gibson will get the shit he deserves. I think the fans would happily stick with the club if they stop wasting tens of millions on shit and play more home grown talent, who in a lot of cases are better than the multimillion signings who are picked before them.

Get Pulis out now.

21  ComeOnBoro.com / ComeOnBoro.com Message Board / Re: How much do we miss Downing? on: March 17, 2019, 03:02:26 AM
Our best player by a mile when he came on. Had a quick check of the stats and we have notched a considerably better points per game return when Downing plays than when he doesnt. If we transposed that average point return to the games he didn't play we would have been on the same points as Leeds now. Just saying
Did you check against when he was on the pitch or just played some part? Itíll be the same for Clayton but apparently heís the cause of all boro problems on the pitch. JOM weighs in at 9 games, 11 points.

Surely the worst that can happen is Pulis gets paid for sitting at home for a few months? Unless he gets a bonus for where we finish and contest it if heís not in charge.

I hope and pray itís not because heíll still be here next season in some capacity. He still flung a few excuses around in his post match interview but sounded deflated. He also had what I thought was a pop at the chairman, he praised Downing (and only downing) then said the contract situation is nothing to do with. I took it as Pulis wants to start him but Gibbo wonít sort the contract thing out. Either way, heís a cunt and can fuck right off.

Cheers Jake. I much prefer a fanís opinion to match reports or the daft cunts on the radio.

Looks like I was probably right about shotton going backwards, he is looking like the player most of us expected when he signed. How did Downing play? Maddison has him down as man of match for putting two crosses into the box.

I agree with you, if big changes arenít made we can forget about our slim hopes of promotion. Donít most compensation claims following a sacking end up at half of the wages due? Thatís about three weeks wages, surely Gibbo can offird that.
28  ComeOnBoro.com / ComeOnBoro.com Message Board / Re: Sack him on: March 16, 2019, 07:09:21 PM
FAO Quntzy.Getting promoted is worth one hell of a lot more than paying Pulis off.Its looking like Pulis will not keep this team in the playoff places.
The truth doesnít fit Quntzís agenda.

Sack him now? I wanted him sacked after last season. The only time I didnít want him sacked was in December 2018 but that was on the proviso Gibson backed him but he didnít.
30  ComeOnBoro.com / ComeOnBoro.com Message Board / Re: EVEN GIBBO NOT DAFT ENOUGH... on: March 16, 2019, 07:01:27 PM
You lot have short memories.Gibson sacked Krankyboy at this time.
Hopefully heíll do the same but Woodgate wonít be the new Agnew. Sacking Karanka wasnít the problem, replacing him with a limp dick was.

The way I feel now, it might be for the best if we lose the next few games because I doubt weíll have a cat in hells chance of going up, thatís if we do even make the play offs. Send the loanees back and get rid of people out of contract in the summer. At least show the fans someone has a plan.

Since JOM came into the side:
Won 3 - West Brom, QPR, Blackburn
Drew 3 (one cup game) - Newport, Leeds, Wigan
Lost 4 (if we lose today) - Sheff United, Brentford, Preston, Villa

Nine league games yielding eleven points.
