According to Streetmap there are a few footpaths, at least one which allows you to get from Hilton to High Leven and goes through some of the woods.

The road between Middleton/Hutton Rudby and Kirk prison is where you can access it

Watch out for the jumpers

A FEW YEARS BACK I USED TO FISH THE RIVER LEVEN REGULAR  :like: PARK NEAR THE FALCOLN PUB AT HILTON AND WALK DOWN TO THE RIVER.....IF YOU KEEP FOLLOWING THE RIVER IT TAKES YOU UNDER THE VIADUCT  :jc:

Yes, walked it many times. It's a public footpath but can get a bit overgrown in Summer.
Park in Hilton and walk along the public footpath down towards the Leven. Just before the small beck turn right and there is a path into the woods. Carry on down there.

Once you've passed under the viaduct the path climbs up and runs alongside the A19 before you meet the road from the Fox Covert to Hilto. Turn right there and it takes you back to the village. Should take you about 1.5 hours in total. Nice walk and quite common to see Deer if you are quiet.

If you are old, you can start at Weary Banks and walk down the Yarm side of the Leven, itís an easier walk
