Title: Biggest boro frustrations at the moment
Post by: The Better man on December 07, 2017, 11:41:52 AM
There's a few for me. First one is Monk's misuse of assets.

Clayton, Bamford Traore etc not getting a look in.

The midfield. Doesn't matter which combo Monk plays, its old, tired and is going to get overrun by any team in the top half of the table. Gibbo needs to spend big on two in the jan transfer window, if we are to make the playoffs. Top two has gone now.

No creativity in midfield.

I object to the fact that he is playing people like Fletcher and Johnson, but I honestly think that Aston Villa pulled a fast one when they got Albert and we received Traore.
I would take a decent offer if one comes in January.    :sid:

Wear warm clothing. I've been a bit toasty last few games. Had to take off my hat.  Happy to help.

No creativity in midfield.

Agree and I find this odd, it can't have some as a surprise. So they signed Braithwaite on big money and practically play him up front when we have perfectly good options on the bench. Get him on the wing. We don't have anybody in the middle who can pass at all, let alone pass it forward.

Adomah has scored the most goals (10) this season in victories in the league. Big loss to the club.

I don't think traore is a 90 minute player, would like to see more of bamford, the midfield in any combination is not quick enough,we've bought poorly for a promotion push, the squad is average, nothing more.

Not sure what can be done about the prices,I have an ST but wouldn't care if the walk up was the same, others do....

We obviously don't want the character, but we desperately need the creativity of a Gaston Ramirez type player

He couldn't do as many sprints per minute as he does if he wanted to play 90 minutes, but I have seen glimpses where he as tucked inside, played it short and done fine doing just that. It is all about how he is expected to play. there's a genuine threat there, I think a good manager would have him tearing this league up in a lot of games and just accept he'll stink the place out in some.

Agree about walk up prices, I don't want to see others punished because they can't afford a st but the club are fearful of losing st holders.

I don't  think it is an average squad. It is a top 3 squad. being poorly managed. Yes the midfield is slow but there's enough quality there. Shame we wasted money on Fletcher, Johnson Howson.

Baker is a real disappointment; I'd hoped he might be a creative force. Howson is a decent player but we have players of that type in Leadbitter, Clayton and Forshaw. Howson has been a more attack minded midfielder at previous clubs but he's not really shown that here.
I think we need to sign two creative players to give us options in midfield and in a No 10 role behind the strikers. If we just keep plugging away with what we have we will finish mid-table.

No urgency all over the field, especially counter attack

We just seem to meander through games  :lost:

Off the ball this pisses me off even more, why are we the only team in the world that doesn't press.

I agree. If we upped our work rate we would dominate most teams at this level.we seem to wait to see what the opo has before we try and play our game.

Baker is so far out of his depth it is pitiful. Who knows what he'll become but on the evidence so far he'll be down the leagues.

I think we have plenty of number 10's. Bamford, Braithwaite, Downing. Gaston is a one off you don't get players of that quality in this league too often. It is no 8 and wing areas we're not good enough for me. I am yet to see Howson do anything to justify him being called a decent player. Best stuff i have seem him do is as a defensive player and Clayton does that role better than he does.

As you say elsewhere he was considering more attacking but his choice is chronic.

Another frustration, don't forget our lack of response in the next game after being walloped in the last. :monk1:

That lack of plan B is what the Leeds fans disliked about Monk.

His full back system irks me, it doesn't make us more attacking it makes us more disjointed. he seemed to reign them in and we won 3 then reverted to type and we've lost 3 of the last 4. The only win coming against a very poor birmingham.

Charlie Adam doing nowt at Stoke.

Get the fucker in our midfield.

Or, ring fucking Allerdyce and ask him how he got the best out of Downing. No doubt by sticking him in the middle.  Get Traore on the right for at least 4 games to see wether there is a footballer in there or not. If not, get shot in January.

Swap him for Adam perhaps
